Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

The watch I ordered was
"The watch I ordered was a Flyback chronographer with a blue dial! The specs say blue dial, but to me it looks black, BC it is so dark. A previous Flyback watch I have also had a blue dial, but much lighter in colour. That's what I wanted. The watch also had Indiglow, which I also really liked. It was at least 20 years old and still running but has a cracked crystal! This watch I ordered is not what I wanted, but your agent told me it is blue, but a dark blue. I will keep it BC it is as close as I can get, but I'm not happy with the dial colour, and the lack of indigo on a Flyback!"
