Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"I admit I bought this watch for myself because I like 34mm and 36mm size watches. I have many of the 34mm Marlin watches and they are perfect. I also like the 37mm/38mm Weekender watches for their basic good looks and simplicity. This watch is no different. Beautifully designed, clean, readable, simple white face. My only disappointment is that it does not have Indiglo, one of the features I like best on the Weekenders. I have not tested the luminous hands. Altogether tho it is still a five star watch."
