INCOMING COLLAB: Our Timex M79 Gets the NN07 Treatment

Our Timex M79 Automatic first debuted in early 2019, selling out in a matter of days and garnering praise from the likes of Gear Patrol, Hodinkee, A Blog to Watch and many other outlets. Available at that time in one color design — black and blue — with a mix of polished and brushed surfaces, the M79 Automatic ticked a lot of boxes for fans of retro watch design.

With great responses from Timex fans since that initial launch, we’ve since put out a couple of new colors. And for the first time, we’re now collaborating with another brand to up the ante for this classic design.

No Nationality 07 — that’s NN07 for short — is a Copenhagen-founded brand that got its start in 2007, making a name for itself with ageless menswear and accessories inspired by classic designs from around the world. In its own words, NN07 is a brand above trends which celebrates personality over nationality, crosses borders and continuously strives to deliver products that stand the test of time.

“We believe that [Japanese and Scandinavian simplicity, Italian color, British tailoring] fit together perfectly,” said a spokesperson for the brand. “The NN07 x TIMEX watch carries the best of both worlds, the easily recognisable American look combined with the No Nationality DNA, which is the result of more than 10 years of existence and re-discovery.”

When asked about how Timex specifically fits with NN07’s strategy for the future, the brand spoke of commonalities between our audience and theirs. “Both the NN07 and TIMEX fans care about long-lasting design and invest in timeless pieces that they plan to wear for a lifetime. This is one of the many reasons why the NN07 x TIMEX collab came so naturally to us, as we share the same values.”

For this collaboration, NN07’s design choices and aesthetic vision led to some nuanced (and substantial) updates. You’ll find one alteration at the 7:00 position on the dial; instead of our usual luminous dial marking, NN07 has placed a blue-dot symbol, which is something of a trademark for the brand. The dial on this edition is a soft charcoal color and the bezel, typically produced in a bi-color format, is cast in a deeper blue color that evokes the open ocean. The watch features all the same retro-inspired design characteristics as our original M79 Automatic, including a 40mm cushion case with shrouded lugs, a domed crystal, a unidirectional dive-style bezel and a 21-jewel automatic movement inside, making this special edition as practical and wearable as it is stunning to look at.

The Timex x NN07 M79 Automatic is limited to just 777 units. Secure yours here.
