As time marches on, there are some things that remain classic: a well-crafted watch, art that makes you stop and think, and the human touch behind it all.
For our latest collaboration, we turned to Italian street artist TVBOY to flip the script on tradition and bring you two bold new watches that reimagine the classics. Featuring details pulled from his “History of Art - Oil” series, each timepiece is a love letter to art, irony, and the timeless power of thought-provoking design.
At the heart of each watch is TVBOY’s bold reinterpretation of Leonardo da Vinci and Mona Lisa, plastered across our Timex Legacy Ocean and Digital T80. Titled “Leo & Lisa,” the piece remixes Italian Renaissance romance with loud color, spray-painted elements, and TVBOY’s signature grit, reframing classic love for a modern world.
Developed in partnership with #tide™, the case and bracelet of the Timex Legacy Ocean are crafted from upcycled, ocean-bound plastic collected from the coastline. Meanwhile, the T80 includes all you’d expect: a chronograph, daily alarm, day and date display, and of course our INDIGLO® backlight for nighttime visibility.
Check out our Q&A with TVBOY:
Q: In a world that’s constantly changing, what does it mean to you for something to be ‘timeless’ or ‘classic’?
A: To me, something timeless is like a heartbeat — it never stops speaking to us. In a world that’s constantly reinventing itself, the classics are the works that keep coming back because they still matter. A piece like the Mona Lisa, or a Da Vinci sketch, never goes out of style — just like a well-designed Timex. It’s not about living in the past, it’s about honoring the things that continue to move us, no matter the era.
Q: How does “Leo & Lisa” reflect your perspective on love, art, or tradition today?
A: “Leo & Lisa” is my tribute to the most mysterious couple in art history — Leonardo da Vinci and his eternal muse, the Mona Lisa. I imagined a love that transcends centuries, a symbolic connection between genius and beauty, artist and inspiration. It’s also my largest mural ever, painted on the facade of Rome’s airport, welcoming the world in the name of art, love and Italian heritage. It’s my way of saying: love, like great art, never really fades — it just takes new shapes.
Q: What does it mean to you to bring street art into a global, everyday object like a watch with Timex?
A: Collaborating with Timex means transforming time into a piece of pop culture. My art was born in the streets, made to be seen by everyone — not hidden behind glass. A Timex watch becomes a moving canvas, a personal gallery you wear every day. It brings street art off the wall and onto your wrist, where it can surprise, provoke, and inspire — minute by minute.
Q: What do you hope wearers feel when they look down at this piece of art on their wrist?
A: I hope they feel connected — to history, to love, to rebellion. I want them to smile, to feel like they’re wearing a modern love story that started in the Renaissance and now lives in their everyday life. A watch usually tells time — this one tells a story. It’s not just about the hours; it’s about emotion, identity, and never forgetting that art belongs everywhere — even on your wrist.
