Bought the Personal HR Monitor in Dec 2010. Liked the features and, found it easy to use: a valuable asset to my training. However, after 8 months, the chest strap sensor malfunctioned. Changed the battery per directions, but is still erratic or non-functional. I would replace with a similar product if Timex indicated they had improved the chest strap sensor, but can find no such indication. As is, I would not recommend this product..comfortable, easy to read, excellent featuresPerformance, chest sensor fails

This is a great product if you use it correctly. You have to be patient with the initial startup. Moisten the sensor pads with saliva and position the pads just below the breasts. It may take up to five minutes for the watch to pick up the signal, but it always eventually does. True, this is inconvenient and annoying, but now that you have paid for it, you might as well put it to good use.
This product has helped me immensely. I'm in my 70's and have always been a little leary about overdoing it. The first thing I learned was that walking at 3 mph was far better than riding my bicycle. By setting the upper and lower BPM alerts I am now able to adjust my stride to stay in the zone that is best for me.
