Ruined a Classic with Case Design Change

  • I miss the olive GREEN Timex Camper of the 1980s and early 1990s. This new case design, which strays far from the classic military design, is really ugly. Bring back the classic look (like the one Timex sells through J. Crew, but in the classic OD green plastic). I'll pay $39.99 - $55 for it - even for quartz instead of manual wind. Why did they change the design?!

    better than your average watch

  • I like the simple manly style of then watch. Just a great gadget for me, and i wear it all the time. Thanks Timex

    Very pleased!

  • I had the smaller version of the Camper, and found it hard to read at night. The luminous hands and markers were nice and bright, but the markers for all hours were identical, so mistakes could be made in reading it if the numbers themselves were not visible. This version solves the problem - if there is any uncertainty about just what time it is in the dark, just push the crown to activate the light. It's faint, but bright enough to make the difference. The 50m water resistance (ok for everything through swimming) is nice too. It also keeps good time, losing two seconds in the week I've had it.

The only marks against it are the small date window and the strap. The strap is short, has holes where it makes no sense for them to be, and it itches. It slips through the pins on the watch, and does so very freely.

As for the color, it is precisely as shown in the photo.
