I've used this watch for years and find it excellent. Rugged, durable. I've paced 12 marathons with it and all my long training runs. The big button on the bottom is the key: it starts the watch and gives you your splits. It's hard to miss it so you can't accidentally stop the watch.
Basically, the big bottom button makes this watch "goof proof." Previously on another Ironman I had the same problem and I had to replace that watch. Apparently from reading the other reviews one cannot replace the bands of these Ironmen watches. The watch is under two years old and the bands should not break or even start to crack so easily. I use this watch for work and sports. Timex needs to find a fix for this problem as no one should have to purchase a new watch that is good except that you cannot wear it..comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Value, Worn all the timebandIs there a way that this band can be changed??? If you're old like me and/or you can hardly see your watch anymore without glasses, the 50 lap Ironman Sleek is the watch you want. But, the band is not durable and there looks to be no replacement..comfortable, easy to read, Worn all the time, many useful featuresband not durableReliable, affordable products with excellent feature sets.
Range of styles have improved to best in class for sports watches.
Please don't design watches so they become disposable (bands that break but cannot be replaced).
This is not consistent with your company reputation, and not consistent with my values as a consumer. I don't want to replace watches if I wear the band out. I expect them to last for 3 battery cycles at least ... when the scratches I put on them, make them unsuitable for continued use.

I've become a big fan of the Timex Ironman watches, using them religiously over the last 10 to 15 years for all may training & competitive runs. Comfortable, easy to use and affordable. Each time I replace a worn out watch there is no learning curve on how to operate the new watch. All functions are the same as the previous model.
My major compliant with this watch is the strap. I've owned this watch less than 2 years and the strap is nearly cracked thru on both sides. With no way to replace the strap this perfectly functioning watch will become useless in the next couple weeks when the strap cracks completely thru.
Great watch, but you need to develop a more durable strap..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, stylish, Value, Worn all the timeQuality, poorly designed strapI would not recommend this watch until a strap is provided that will last the life expectancy of the watch

There are several posts with this common theme, "watch band breakage." Appropriate personnel at Timex, the type of plastic the watchband is fabricated from apparently get attacked by either UV or some component in human persperation (salt/acid) which embrittles the plastic. The watchband enventually stress fatigues during wrist application/removal once the plastic embrittles. Either redesign the watchband mounting for a fabric watchband or contact the chemical supplier of the plastic to provide a more flexible formulation. My best duration before breakage was approximately 2 years. I purchased my watch in December of 2009. I wear it every day and absolutely love it! Battery is the original. I have run several races with it and would definitely purchase another one. Only drawback I can see is that with age and constant wear the plastic in the band is starting to stiffen (inherent with plastics in general though). May try tominator's suggestion and send watch back to Timex to repair if band fails.

I don't care what the replacement or repair policy is, a watch band shouldn't break after 14 months.Performance, Value
“Great watch, horrible strap”

I love the watch. It's user friendly, rugged, has the details I need and is all round great.
The trouble is that the strap is actually part of the watch itself, and now that the strap has broken (less than a year after I bought it), I have no idea how or if I can get it fixed. No store seems to have a replacement, and I suspect it's not fixable even if I had a strap/casing assembly, since all the seals would likely break..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, Worn all the timeQuality, watch strap sucks, watch strap design sucksGreat watch except for the watchstrap design and quality. If you have to buy a new watch every year or so because the strap isn't replaceable, it's not worth it.

My wife bought me this watch to take to India. I really like the watch but the strap is weak and has now broken in three places (resin fatigue?). I cannot find a replacement strap anywhere so am now facing the reality of throwing way a perfectly good watch (with working battery) due to spare strap. Can anybody help?.Battery life, Performance, reliable, Worn all the timestrap not durable, stop/start buttonGood looks, fair price, questionable durability of strap

If you're old like me and/or you can hardly see your watch anymore without glasses, the 50 lap Ironman Sleek is the watch you want. Unlike most of Timex's other large digit watches, the digit segments are just tiny bit wider and it makes all the difference. Without my glasses I can read it in the pool, and I can see my splits in road races. I see all the comments about broken straps, but I've not experienced that in two years, maybe because I rarely take it off..comfortable, Battery life, easy to readBecause you take a licking and keep on ticking. :-)

I love this watch ... easy to read and use ... loaded with features ... and the band is VERY comfortable!

While I found the watch worked well with all functions, in less than a year the Start/Stop button failed to work properly and required an extreme amount of pressure to start or stop. It could not be used to move during the recall function. The watch is an excellent design to be worn both for sports activity as well as with formal wear. I am purchasing another of the same model in hopes I'll not have a problem with the Start/Stop function. With the exception of this one experience, I have had no difficulties with Timex products..comfortable, easy to read, stylish, Worn all the timePerformance, start/stop button functionBecause of the reliability of Timex products.
“Great Watch, Needs a Better Strap”

Product features are great, however the watchband design is TERRIBLE.
Read the reviews and you will see the watchband will last you only a year or so. Having worn this watch and exercise normally, the band will break and there is no way to replace the band!
I forgot the number of web-pages in order to find a replacement strap. Still keeping it in my pocket..stylish, Performance, comfortable, Battery life, easy to readwatchband

I love the watch and it is very user friendly. The lense however slowly began to steam up as the temp. got hot outside and eventually quit working. I only had the watch for a few months and had to send it back.
I love the band. It is very confortable..comfortable, Performance, Rugged, stylish, Worn all the timePerformanceI would give it a much higher rating if the lense had not steamed over and eventually stop working. I have only had the watch a few month. I bought a TIMEX so this would not happen. I do not like being without it for weeks.

The original battery life of the watch is still operational/functional, and I am disappointed to have to replace a functional piece of equipment..comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Worn all the timewatchband breakageSee above comment.

I use this watch for business and pleasure. The face has a large easy to read display and its simple to program. I particularly like the 3 alarm capabilities. I should of read the reviews of this watch before making my initial purchase. The watch functions are great, the fit and design are great but the band is mediocre at best. I can't imagine why the band has not been upgraded by Timex.
I' m on my second Ironman watch -T5H391, and the second failure of the strap has just happened.
Oh well, my fault - should of read the reviews!

I really like this watch but like other reviewers the band breaks and forces you to throw it out and buy something else. Its not replaceable. Honestly, these complaints have been going on for years. Why isn't Timex listening and make it so that the band can easily be replaced? Do they not care whether they have loyal customers or do they prefer unhappy one-time purchases?

I purchased my watch in December of 2009. I wear it every day and absolutely love it! Battery is the original. I have run several races with it and would definitely purchase another one. Only drawback I can see is that with age and constant wear the plastic in the band is starting to stiffen (inherent with plastics in general though). May try tominator's suggestion and send watch back to Timex to repair if band fails.
