I bought this watch because I run and swim. After 4 months of owning this watch, never worn in the water, it started to fail. Within four months the start/stop for the timer didn't work, all the labels had worn off, and the indigo light didn't work. Currently, if I accidentally touch the indigo light then the watch completely freezes because the indigo light sticks. I have to wait until it pops back out or until I dig it out then I have to reset the time. I've bought better watches from an Army Surplus store, after my experience with this "Ironman" Watch I will never buy a Timex again. For what I paid for this watch I could have bought two watches that at least tell time correctly. Yes, I originally bought this watch due to it's aesthetic appearance, which looks awesome; but, if the watch doesn't work it doesn't serve much function..stylish, easy to read during day timePerformance, Quality, Value, buttons stick, indigo light poor, incorrect time, can't replace bandPlease see my review of this item.

If I had written this review a couple weeks earlier I would have given it the best of the best, but a couple weeks ago it stopped working. Which didn't make any sense because I had for more than a year. Than later I saw that small water droplets on the inside of the glass. Some how some where water got inside the casing. I'm still not sure but I think the water seeped in from the Start/split button because a hole had devolved from heavy usage. So if you are not going to use the stop watch too often I would highly recommend this watch. If not you might want to look someplace else..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, stylishnot reliable, wears outI've had numerous Timexs this was the only one that stopped working.

I have had this watch for about 1.5 years now. Have used it while running, and I wear it every day. I work outdoors in a river- kayaking, moving rocks, digging holes, and I do a number of things which could destroy a lesser watch. I never think twice with this on my wrist though. Yes, it gets scratched, paint chips off, etc. Even with those imperfections, however, I still get compliments on this watch. It just looks great!
My only issues with this watch are: it does scratch rather easily, and I often find the display on "CHRONO" instead of the main/time screen because the MODE button gets pressed very easily. It gets irritating to have to press the MODE button when I want to see the time (especially while riding a bike, kayaking, etc.)
Also - and this is no fault of Timex - but if you are wearing polarized sunglasses (as I often am) you'll have difficulty reading the display at certain angles. It sounds odd to bring up, but when you're engaged in various sports and activities it can be difficult to take your hands off of something and bring the watch up to your face for reading - it's just easier sometimes to bend your neck over and read it off your arm, wherever that might be. Thankfully though, the standard "right-side-up" and horizontal orientation is a readable angle.
I recently experienced the "tearing" wristband that several others reported. I was disappointed, like them, that I could not repair/replace the band myself. However, I contacted Timex and they gave me an address where I could send my watch to have it repaired. The cost for the repair was extremely reasonable (about what I expected it to cost if I was to do it myself). Much to my surprise, they didn't just repair my battered, abused old watch... they replaced the whole thing with a brand new shiny one!
So, for those of you who have knocked off a few stars for the wristband, you should look into getting it "repaired".
I'm a happy customer, thanks Timex!.Rugged, stylish, Performance, comfortable, Worn all the time, Battery life, easy to read, reliable, useful features, affordable repairswristband breaks cannot be replaced, mode button easily pressed by accidentI've always had Timex products! They are great looking, reasonably priced, fit me well (Casio watches are just way too big for me), keep good time, and they take all the abuse I can throw at them.

I have owned this watch for just over a year. I am quite happy with it. I particularly like the blue lighted numbers as I frequently run in the early morning darkness. I have not replaced the battery and the strap is in excellent condition. I must admit to many of the inconveniences noted by other posters. Specifically: worn letters on the "start/split" button, light scratching on the watch face, and a learning curve to daytime use. The grey on black is somewhat unusual for me.
I have found this watch to be a dependable light weight timepiece and will be purchasing another barring the introduction of something cooler.

I really enjoyed the inverse display of the watch, ie the numbers and letters displayed in "white" and the background in "black". The watch has many great features including 3 personal alarms that can be set.
However, the rubber on the start/stop button on the front of the watch starts falling apart and the face is easily scratched.Absolutely enjoy Timex, mostly because they are good quality watches at an uneconomical price. I don't ever have to worry about it braking or losing time.

This is the third or fourth Ironman I've bought. While it looks terrific and feels lighter than previous models, the backlighting seems inadequate for daylight use.
More importantly, after using the watch for just two months, the Stop/Reset button is no longer functioning properly. Specifically, when I'm using the Chrono/Stop-Watch, I cannot pause/stop the watch and resume (after stopping to get a drink, for instance). Instead of pausing, the chrono keeps running until I Reset completely. This is really frustrating because I loved the stopwatch on previous models. And I'm disappointed because--outside or normal wear-and-tear--I have never experienced any problems with previous Ironman watches. I've read similar postings on other forums for this product -- those users expressed similar problems with the stopwatch/chrono buttons on this particular watch..comfortable, stylish, Worn all the time, lightweightPerformance, Quality, not easy to read, not rugged/reliable
