“Good Watch, bad band”

Review:

I'm on my second watch, love the watch, love the band, but the band breaks like everyone else has said. I bought the 2nd watch because I couldn't find a replacement band for the 1st. Now the 2nd band broke just like the 1st. Can't find the bands anywhere. Hence why I'm here..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the timeband"Takes a licking...."

I have always bought the ironman watches because of their durability. I researched this one for weeks before i finally bought it. I work on a diary and at a gold mine, so i am always working in the worst conditions. The watch held up fine, but the band finally just broke on me the other day. I like the looks and the operations of this watch, but i believe ironman needs to create some other options on replacement bands on this watch. Because i really want to keep using this watch, but i cant find a replacement band that will work with this style..Rugged, stylish, Performance, comfortable, Worn all the time, Battery life, easy to read, Value, reliable, indalglo lights only the numbersbandThey are awsome, well build watches, but you guys need to make replacement bands for all the watches you make. Like for this watch a velcro one. Just a thought

As everyone else has re-iterated, I bought the watch with high expectations. Looked good, plenty of good functions and looked rugged...but I am on my 3rd. Band broke on the 1st one, thought it was a dud, luckily was able to return it for a replacement. Band breaks again, friend buys the replacement (really would have preferred to not be going thru round 3 with this guy). I just want a new band...no one sells it. Looks like the T5E901 band is the resin equivalent. Which such an overwhelmingly obvious manufacturing defect....would be nice if Timex did something about this!.stylish, comfortable, Battery life, easy to readhorrible band!, opposite of ruggedGreat Watch, horrible band!

Review:

have worn ironman watches for over 20 years. the last womens one i purchased 3 years ago the face cracked within the year, now this one that i have LOVED becuase of its appearance just had the band break. i took it to the a really good watch store and both watch repairmen said they could do nothing and i needed a new band. i have only had this for 6 months and have worn it proudly. being that it is meant for athletics i would have thought it would have had a great deal more durability. all my boys have ironman watches as well and no problems like this and they are rough..comfortable, easy to read, stylish, Worn all the timebreakable banddependable for most of the time easy to find in a store and good price.

Ihave just recieved my third IRONMAN because i am really hard on watches, but it is the only one that holds up for about4 years.I am now71 years old an if I stay alive I will keep buying more TIMEX IRONMANS.JUSThope i stay alive.Rugged, Performance, comfortable, Battery life, easy to read, reliable, ValueGreat Watch. I never take it off. Classy enough to wear to church never had one to take in water...

“Bad Band Design”

Review:

Received this watch as a gift. The watch itself does everything I wanted but the band clasp has a pin that keeps falling out. I had to stop wearing it. Never knew when the watch was going to fall off next. Fell off right in the middle of refereeing a volleyball match. Would not recommend Timex again. Stores do not carry replacement parts or this watch band..Battery life, easy to read, Performance, reliable, ValueQuality, bandBad band design. Cannot get replacement part for band or new band for watch.

Overall I liked the watch. I especially like the backlit numbers vs the whole screen being backlit. One minor detail, The light button is on the side with one chrono button on the front and one on the side. I prefer both chrono buttons on the side with the light button on the front. The biggest issue is the watch is not as rugged as you would think. The band is metal, but it really is only for looks. The place where the band attaches to the watch body is plastic. On mine, the pin holding the band on tore through the plastic on the body and the band repeatedly came off after that (basically every other day). Later on, one of the pins in a non-removeable link failed and I finally decided to replace it. It only lasted about 8 months. It would be nice if it was actually made to be as durable as it looks..Battery life, comfortable, easy to readQuality, Value, weak designMetal band is fatally flawed by its plastic attachment point on the watch body. Plastic fails and allows metal pin holding the band on to come out.

Owned this watch for two months and the band clasp has already started to come apart. Purchased because it because it looked rugged but did not last too long. Too bad because it was a really good looking watch, was just in Mexico and a couple people offered to but it from me..comfortable, easy to readQuality, bandpoor construction, need a watch that will last.

“Good watch / Band weak”

Review:

This is my third Timex. I love the watches except for the band. This band broke after four weeks. The pins in the band are apparently very weak and the ones that connect to the watch are almost impossible to repair. I will do what it takes to fix trhe watch because I like it that much. But the band is definitely the weakest aspect of this watch..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Worn all the timebandI have three over the last 25 years. The band on all of them had to be repaired too frequently.

As a customer who has several different styles of ironman watches, this is one of my favorites. It gives your wrist a little bit of style while still having all the standard functions of an ironman watch that I am use to..easy to read, reliable, stylish, Value

I've had this watch for a LONG time!!! 2 batteries and a lot of years in an auto shop with only an 'age' related failure at the band pins. Super-glued the sockets as they had worn too round for new pins to hold. Still is the original band and only the 2nd set of band pins in about 6-7 years..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, reliable, Rugged, Worn all the timeNEVER had a problem with a Timex. 3 watches in 30+ years speaks for itself.

I have had mine for at least 3 years and am not easy on it.
The band is just fine and I have never had to replace any pins.
Only complaint I have is the Indiglo is no where near bright enough at night but I am 55 and have glasses.Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the time, light weightindiglo should be much brighter

Review:

This is truely my favorite watch ever. I love the functions, size and style. I have bought no less than 5 of these and still have four, 1 new, and 3 that I have just gotten tired of trying to have the band reattached to the watch, as well as one that fell down a hole (broken band) and could not be retrieved. They have all broken in the exact same spot, where the first flexable link attaches to the watch. It seems that crimping starts to unfold and allows the pin to fall out. I really do wish that Timex could solve this problem. I would like to continue to wear this watch but if a solution is not found I am on the look out for a simular watch of another brand..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, stylish, Value, Worn all the time, functionsQuality, band reliability

Review:

This is about the 10th Ironman I have owned. I love the watch but it seems I have to constantly retire them due to band failure. The first watches came with a rubber style band that seemed to dry rot after a year or so training in a pool. The chlorine must have a negative effect on the rubber over time. I then switched to the metal band, which seemed to last longer and also looked better, but they always seem to loosen up and loose the pins. I have recently purchased a newer style metal band and had to have it repaired three times already. I would have purchased a new band but it’s just cheaper to wait for a sale and buy a new watch. What a shame..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, stylish, Value, Worn all the timeQuality, bad bandsee comments

“Quality Issues”

Review:

Over the past 3-5 years, have purchased two. The battery seems to last forever but quality problems remain with basic design which are associated with problems with watchband pins and case water leakage on both. These are NOT water resistant 100 meter watches...more like 1 foot..Battery life, comfortable, easy to readQuality, water resistantGood watch usually but don't swim in it.

“Rotten band connection to watch”

2
Rated 2 / 5

Review:

I have installed approximately 1 dozen pins for this watch. I love the watch and the way it works but that small pin connecting the band to the watch is worthless. Worse yet, most jewelers or big box stores do not carry a pin that small. The only way I have gotten it to stay, is to super glue the pin into the watch band and then insert the pins. And the way the watch is made it will only accept this type band..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, Value, Worn all the timewatch band attachmentReasonably priced for a great product. Not a throw away product because they never wear out.

“Just what I was looking for”

5
Rated 5 / 5

Review:

This ironman watch is all that I was looking for in a watch. The buttons are not big and bulky that would enable them to get pushed by a sleeve or on something I am working on. To many other watches with big buttons end up resetting the time or it's on some other mode when all you want to do is check the time. I find it very stylish in a way that I can wear it when dressed up or down..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the time, buttons not easily pushed by accidentPrice is great, very stylish, buttons are the perfect size. I hate those big bulky buttons that get caught on everthing and sometimes break off.

“Durable Functional Watch, weak band”

4
Rated 4 / 5

Review:

I've purchased at least six Timex T5H971 Ironman Triathlon watches for myself and family. The watches themselves have never failed despite being dropped on concrete or opened for battery replacement; they all show no signs of leaking even when the buttons are pushed under water. Furthermore, it has just the right amount of functionality for timing my swimming laps, and the start-split button works smoothly. (The start-split button does not work reliably on some other Timex models!)

However, the watch bands have failed so frequently that I’ve been buying replacement 9 mm spring bars in bulk. The current images of the watch on the Timex web site suggest the way the band attaches to the watch has been changed. The plastic insert between the first and second links on the band appears to have been eliminated to provide space for a stronger pin. When purchasing, take care to check band attachment method..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the time, buttons work smoothlyband breaks easily, needs led when button pushed for noisy locations, needs switch bounce ckt. to prevent double clickEasy to read. Right degree of functionality. 30 LAP model fine. 50 Lap model too complicated.

“Nice Watch - Very Poor Band”

3
Rated 3 / 5

Review:

The watch itself is great. Accurate, lots of functions, easy to use, easy to read, etc. The band is terrible. The band is thin, cheap, and breaks easily. I had an earlier similar model where the band lasted several years (still not long enough). I bought this one to replace it. The band on this watch lasted only a bit over one year and fell apart. It is very frustrating to have such a great watch attached to such a flimsy band. I won't buy anymore Timex watches. It would be better to spend more on a watch that will last longer.
