this is a great tool for the outdoors, i have already a Expedition® E-Tide Temp Compass (a great piece too, but a little heavy maybe) i buy that years ago, so i want a new one, and this is great, is light and on a single look i know all i need, i just have a cuple of things to be the perfect tool the first is change the plastic face for glass (or anti scratch treatment) and the second is upgrade the water resistant to 100 mt..Battery life, easy to read, Performance, stylish, Value, Worn all the timeUncomfortablegreat products
Bought this watch for fellrunning in the UK. It has some great features for the sport..like compass, alitimeter & stopwatch. The stopwatch has the ability to 'log' splits I used this feature at a local race to try it out. I 'logged' 10x lap times but after the event it is not possible to review your times. Timex have sadly omitted this function but have nevertheless NUMBERED the split times????
It would have been a GREAT watch had this review function been included ;-(.comfortable, easy to read, Valueno split reviewbut not this one 6/10 only because of split function
I am a big fan of Timex watches for their features, accuracy and value. I have been wearing them for years.
I was really excited when I ordered my WS4 because I loved all the features it offered. When it arrived I loved it despite the gargantuan size.
After a few weeks of use my love affair with the WS4 was over. Here are my issues:
- Too mammothly big on the wrist even for such a big burly guy as myself. It never felt comfortable.
- Kept lousy time. My current Timex Expedition and past Ironman watches were accurate to within 1 second every week or two. I calibrate my watches against an atomic time signal. My WS4 lost more than 1 second per day.
- Altimeter and barometer were inaccurate after air travel. I travelled to 3 different cities at elevations from sea level to 3500 ft asl. The altimeter and barometer are very easy to recalibrate but would not properly do so at 3500 ft even after several tries over several days. When I returned to sea level where I live it worked fine. This didn't happen when I flew to a destination of 1500 ft asl but the watch did require recalibration.
- The thermometer is as good as useless if you wear the watch as it measures your body temperature.
- With all that real estate (the big watch screen) the information on screen could be better laid out. (Timex - please lose the analog clock displayed digitally).
I loved the digital compass. I also loved the navigation prompts. This watch is very easy to use.
Ultimately, I decided it wasn't the watch for me and sold it quite easily..great digital compassAppearance, Performance, Size & weight, Uncomfortable, bad time keeping, poor performance of altimeterSee the review. Great idea but the watch did not perform well
Yes except GPS it has got everything one needs for the great outdoors.
Once i saw it at a local showroom and tried it on, i knew this is the one i have been waiting for.
Previously i have used Timex Ironman series and was highly satisfied with the brand so there was no second thought.
The dealer, Eastrend-HUB offered 10% discount as i wished and i got it home.
I don't want to go into technicalities of the WS-4 but just want to say that Timex is a brand i trust and WS-4 is their offering that i fell in love with in the very first look.
If you are the one it is made for, you will know it instantly.
I just hope and wish that in its next upgrade WS-4 has GPS capabilities as well..comfortable, easy to read, reliable, RuggedIts just the right piece of equipment for the outdoors.
I'm still getting used to the size of the watch, I like the look and features. The altimeter does not seem to be very accurate and needs constant calibration. The temperature is no different than my last Timex watch, you would think someone would figure out a better place for the sensor. My main question is if the band can be changed for a different style or am I locked into the rubber/resin band that came with the watch..easy to read, Performance, Rugged, stylish, Worn all the timeIt just looks cool.
I have had this watch for a couple of weeks. The functions are great and they beat Suunto and Casio Pathfinder in the ease of use catagory. I have had both watches. It does have some quirks such as the weather being a bit off but is is somewhat close. The band is very big on this and bulky. It does get irritating on the wrist sometimes and you need to move the watch around. I found wearing it loose helps. My Barometer is not right and I am having some difficulting getting it corrected. The Chrono auto switchs from lap 1- 20 automatically which I do not like. But, what I really use a watch for is looks, the time, the day and date and the weather baro. so this has met my expectations..easy to read, reliable, stylish, Worn all the timeSize & weight, UncomfortableGood watches for cheap.
Just received this watch today,(have wanted one since I heard they were comming out). Definately worth the wait. EASY to set up. Display fantastic, looks awsome and feels great on wrists. Do alot of hiking cant wait to put it through tests. But so far 110% please and IMPRESSED..comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, ValueDependable and value for your money.
Received my WS4 yesterday and had the night and today to play with it. Compared to my Suunto Core, much better. Better display and easier interface. No menu's to access. Compared to my Casio Pathfinder, comparible but better features on the display. Hands down, the widescreen display with multi information read outs is the coolest. The only thing I am not liking is the huge black band it is attached too. It is a big honking watch and I am having some issues getting used to the band. I am coming off my metal band from my Casio. The band reminds me of the 1970's big band watches but those were mostly made of leather. If you want a big honking multi purpose watch that looks really cool, then this watch is for you. Easy to use and lots of neat features..easy to read, Performance, Rugged, stylishSize & weight, UncomfortableThis is a really great watch. It may not be for everyone. Just takes time to get used to.
I just got my ws4. and i am very pleased. i have to spend some time getting everything set up as far as functions go. but it seams to have a great user interface that makes using the manual almost not needed. The one downfall is that i thought you also got a cloth band for wearing over gear like jackets. but all in all great watch.comfortable, easy to read, Ruggedgreat service and quick shipping. just wish i also got the cloth strap. but keep up the great work timex
i just got the ws4 3 days ago, its a HUGE watch, but it functions well, after quite a bit of calibration. The only thing i've had a problem with is the band can be uncomfortable at times on a hot day and the barometer shows that it is cloudy out or raining on a perfectly clear day, this could be a problem with the dry environment and altitude i live in (3% humidity and 5200 feet) but the altimeter works well as does the compass, which are the main reasons i bought this watch, if you don't mind the size and have the means to calibrate it (ex. a gps) i would recommend this watch!.comfortable, easy to read, Performance, Worn all the timePerformance, Size & weight, Uncomfortable, Valuea tad expensive and a really really long delivery time, but good overall
The WS4 is the best Timex chronograph watch ever. I find it easy to use, and love the weather feature and compass..comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the timeTimex watches are the best.
I really like the WS4 for its multipurpose abilities and accuracy. The only thing that keeps the WS4 from being having 5 stars is the fact that I spend 8 hours a day typing and by the end of the day I have a sore spot on the top of my hand wear the watch juts out beyond my wrist. But I would recommend this watch to anyone..Battery life, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the timeUncomfortableI love it and every other Timex watch I have ever owned.
I really did like this watch and its features were great! But it only lasted for 4 months maybe even three. This watch is made for the outdoors but when they say outdoors they mean your backyard. Not for anything where the watch will take impact of any sort( it likes to reset when that happens). And the water resistance? Not so much, i went swimming and the whole thing got flooded, good bye warranty so now my watch is useless. So if you like a watch with a whole bunch of features for the outdoors but you dont go outdoors this watch is the watch for you.
