    Buying third

  • It can be frightening to read users' comments. Even some of the positive reviews contain comments which do not conform to my own experience: e.g., suggestions that this model had a solid metal case in "the good old days." The first I bought, a long time ago, had a plastic case with a faux metal coating which eventually wore off. What does one expect for the cost? Even today, at about twice what I paid for the first, it is probably a pretty good bargain. What hasn't doubled in price over the last 15 to 20 years? Our nation's "leaders" have debased the currency! Feeling rather confident that the negative comments are simply crankiness more appropriate to people of my age, I am buying my third of this excellent watch. As I tried to "Add a con" but couldn't get it in the space allotted, I will state it here: The control buttons are a bit small and over time can become difficult, not to say 'impossible' to operate. After a number of years, they seem to protrude less than originally. All in all, I consider this an excellent time piece and would recommend it highly to anyone who wants a reliable, reasonably priced, reasonably sized wristwatch.

.Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, Value, Worn all the time, not unattractive and reasonaly sized.

I have had outstanding experience with Timex watches. I have owned more that one expensive wristwatch but never had one that did not have to be pampered and was costly to maintain. Prior to buying the first of this model, I had had a couple of the old wind-up styles. Being something of a pack rat and not throwing inoperative things out right away, I had the last of my wind-ups in a table drawer. Our maid in Venezuela inquired about it, and I told her that it was just an old watch that didn't work. She asked if she might have it. I said:"Sure." She took it to one of the "jewelers" who plied their trade on the street corners of Caracas. For a few Pesos he fixed it, and the last I heard it was still ticking and keeping good time. Why would anyone buy anything other than a Timex?

    Great Purchase for a Watch

  • Timex is the best watch for timing and recording the times for sail boat racing. I have been using Timex watches for timing the start of races for at least 25 years. They hold up when they get wet in saltwater.

.Rugged, stylish, Performance, comfortable, Worn all the time, Battery life, easy to read, Value, reliable

I wanted a time count down watch that was water proof with a stainless watch band for use in timing the start of sail boat racing.

    Hourly Chime Feature Should Go

  • I like everything about the watch except the hourly chime feature. The instructions mention the feature but not how to turn it on or, more importantly, how to turn it off. After a few days of ownership, I set the alarm as a backup for a wake-up call. It alarmed fine and I then turned off the alarm. Now I get an hourly chime with no indication on the watch face and have not been able to shut it off. If not for this feature I would recommend the watch to a friend.

.comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the time

    incomprehensible hourly chime feature

I would give a 10 if the watch I just bought had a way to shut off the hourly chime or did not have the hourly chime. Except for that feature, Timex makes a good watch; five stars. The chime is embarassing and I feel like putting the watch away and using my old Casio that has lost its band as a pocket watch.

    personal info

  • The watch is great. I have just bought a second one except this is gold tone and not just stainess. Directions to set-up the watch are difficult to understand. I have written Timex today to see if they can help. "Time will tell".

Cannot set the alarm. Hope Timex can help.

    Keeps on ticking!

  • I have owned two of these in the 80's, both the silver and gold tone, when I saw the re-issue I had to have another. Great watch from a great company. When I need a watch that can take what I dish out it is always a Timex!

Lost a 1980's 106movement wind up in a bush for 18 months, found it, wound it, wore it for another 10 years, thanks!

    Terrific watch

  • I have had two of these (like another review, the first had a ne band but started looking beaten up (wish it had stainless steel rather than chrome case). MY only complaint is that the band on the newer one (ca. 2 yo) broke without me knowing, and it was lost). I wish my more expensive Timex didn't have problems with getting the case back on after a new battery. I am getting a new one of these!

case should be stainless even if a few more $$$

    Good value for money generally.

    2nd purchase of this item

  • I have been wearing this watch for several years and am ordering a new one because I have liked it so much. Even though the old one is still working and I have not had to even change the battery it has gotten dingy looking and I just want a new one.

Size & weight, band too big- small wrist

    Two in Twenty-Five Years

  • I've read the reviews on the re-released watch. I've used mine for refereeing soccer matches. the count down function and alarm is super. The stopwatch helped keep interval time and it looked good. Like "Swayze" would say"It took a licking and kept on ticking". The two I have need repair and I'm not happy about the use of PLASTIC instead of a hard metal case. I would recommend only if sold with a metal case.I didn't have a good choice of options on the recomend choice.

.Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the time, sports-worthy

Quality, new ones aren't as durable

I don't know if the "New Re-Issue" is as good as what I've become accostomed to.

    cheapend

  • I have really liked my watch. It is over approx. 15 years old. I wanted to buy a new one but reading past reviews I find you have went to a plastic case. I will not buy a plastic case. Disapointed.

    cheapened new ones

    Here come's Cheap!

  • Very dissatisfied with these watches now and I've owned 3. they are not metal cased any more, they are plastic cased and have a gold/silver colored plastic paint/coating. That 'paint' has been breaking down and chipping off causing me a severely chaffed and irritated arm to the point I'm gonna have to buy something else. I have loved these watches sad to see this happening. They electronically maintain well and are not a battery taxing contraption which I have and still remain grateful, but they really need to go back in to solid metal cases.

Appearance, Performance, Quality, Uncomfortable, has become too cheap

Fine watch, want another gold-tone one

  • This WR30M is great. I'm amazed at how accurately it keeps time. Several times the flex band has come apart at the last link to the case, and I've had to re-set the U clip there by hand, and now the gold is wearing off, and I want another one, but can't find a gold-tone one. Sigh.

.Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, stylish, Value, Worn all the time, gold tone wore off too soon

band u clips can pull out, can't find gold-tone any more

    Great watch!

    Disappointing

  • I've had several Timex digitals similar to this in style, over many years, and they've served very well. But the plastic case is NOT holding up, and the "Indigo" feature is a mystery. The old metal-cased veteran will just have to get a new battery, and the plastic will get stuck in a drawer somewhere. Disappointing.

    .Battery life, easy to read

cheap plastic case, no night light.

Quality seems to be declining. Other watches too full of useless gadgets. I've liked Timex for many years but will need to look around unless this model comes out in a metal case.

There is another option for metal!

  • This watch is my favorite, been wearing it for years and I'm on my 3rd. For those who complained about the plastic case (which doesn't bother me a bit, I've had each watch for over 5 years and only experienced minor wear/chipping on the edges) the following model is the metal version: T785829J which has a slightly different display but seems the same in every other regard.
