    great watch

  • For the money this is the best watch around. I had one in Desert Storm, and many years in the military. Light, inexpensive, and unobtrusive. Loved these watches for years for a no nonsense timepiece.

    dessert time

  • Bought my first camper for my first deployment to iraq in 2003, its still ticking today. Now im on my fourth deployment and just bought another one because i finally cracked the case on my original one. I was shocked that it maid it through one deployment, but the fact that it maid it through 3.5 deployments with my job has me sold. Excellent watch that is very durable for the price, low profile watch that take a lot of abuse.

    value watch, but problems

  • I bought my first camper due to price and design. I also heard many great reviews. I am a huge Timex fan and feel they are the best bang for the buck I worked well for about 5 months and then the crown came off. I took it to a watch repair place to see if he could do something, but it wasn't worth the price on a 35 dollar watch. It was disappointing. The strap is cheaply made which is no big deal since you can buy nicer ones. I really wish this watch would have lasted. I love the design and am tempted to by another one, but fear I might run into the same trouble.

Great watches and great prices. Also stylish.

    Camper watch band

  • Have had my camper watch now for 17 years and it still keeps excellence time. I have had new watch bands and the last one is just about shot. I cannot find any place that sells these nylon bands so if anyone could tell me where to buy one I would sure appreciate it. Thanks

    Great Watch

  • I've had the 1970's wind-up version for many years ,and i lost it when we moved. i was so glad when i heard Timex is making a similar version its like finding a lost friend.only downside is its a kid size watch not an adult size.but I'm happy with it.

    Great value

  • I bought one of these watches in 1995 and have worn it off and on since. I have switched to other watches, only to switch back each time. In that 15 years I've replaced the battery less than five times. The battery life is great, the dial is easy to read, and it looks as good as watches costing double. I only wish it came in a different color, I painted mine black, and the band wasn't my favorite.

I would recommend this watch, the three ironman watches I've had since I bought this one I would keep to myself.

    100% comfort

  • This watch is military issue for the American army which means it must be a reliable product. The watches shape is traditional, and whilst taditionally I have never liked wearing watches because the band would pinch the skin and pull out your hairs. The band on this model though is not at all irritating. You even sweat less with this one! The band is a woven synthetic which looks a lot like canvas though the synthetic band makes it feel like you're not wearing a watch at all. I sometimes even sleep with it on.

    great watch, but....

  • I love this watch. I love how it looks, how it functions. It's a really 'cool' watch, which I'm into. The one thing that I don't love is how loud the ticking is. If I am in my apartment and there is nothing going on (no music, talking, etc.) I can hear my watch ticking, even when I am not wearing it and it is on my desk several feet away. If it is on my wrist and it is quiet the ticking is very loud and distracting. I am not used to this, and unfortunately it keeps me from wearing it very much.

    loud ticking

I love my Timex watches. The only thing I don't love is what I mentioned above in my review.

    Best Ever

  • I am on my second Timex Camper watch. Bought my first one back in '91 at the PX at Ft. Campbell. Then, in '01, the battery finally went dead. Rather than try to get it replaced, I simply bought another identical Timex Camper watch. Didn't know it had a "Camper" name, just knew the watch by sight. I never take it off except when forced to remove it for an MRI. Shower with it, work with it on, it's just a good 100 percent watch. For the money, it is absolutely unbeatable. Throughout the night, it is always readable. It keeps nearly perfect time; check it frequently against NBS. It's lightweight and comfortable. Great watch!!!

    Classic

  • I'm 26, and I've had this watch since I was 11. I've never liked jewelry but this watch never bothers me to wear. It's light, and mine is a wind up, so I don't have to worry about batteries. Not that it goes with every occasion, but good for casual settings. Just as stylish as a $5,000 Bell & Ross Military watch, and you can't beat $30.

    Very Satisfied...fine products, good value.

    Awesome

  • My father had this watch and let me use is as a child. I used it on and off for a while, but then set it aside for many years. In high school, I wanted to use it again, but the battery had gone dead. I took it to a jewelry store to get it replaced, and they botched it. They stripped some of the screws on the back, and one of them wouldn't screw all the way in, so it was constantly poking my wrist. The battery went dead again soon after, which was strange, but I still love it. I'm 22 years old now, and I haven't worn a watch since then. Just today I thought about buying a new watch, so I started looking online and this was the first watch that popped into my head. It's comfortable, has an understated style, and I was really surprised that it's not more expensive than it is.

.comfortable, easy to read, reliable, Rugged

Although I can't afford one, there are certainly times when I want a classic, understated Swiss watch. I dream of spending a week at my country estate, hunting with close friends, and then wearing the same watch to a white tie event in town. The event would most likely be at the Eccentric Club in London or some sort of theatre opening. I may even attend the Vienna Opera Ball. Anyway, none of that will probably ever happen, as I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and I don't have the money for any of it. When my mind settles back in reality, I become aware that Timex has been there from the beginning for me, and that I love wearing mine in my actual life of bicycle commuting, college studies, and spending time with friends.

    Simple = Simply Best

  • when you just need it to work. had this watch for 28 years (as of 2009). it just *#@%&* works. freebie: even works as a compass (just point the hour hand at the sun and halfway between that and the 12 is due south - adjust slightly for daylight savings time)

.comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, Value

no better value. just tell me the *#@%&* time!

    small wrist

  • I ordered this watch because I like the look of it while I'm wearing my green flight suit. A simple design with a classic look. Unfortunately my wrist too large or the watch band is too small to fit the tongue of the band through the loop. Fortunately it hasn't stopped me from wearing it.

    Excellent Quality

  • I have purchased this watch about 10 months ago and wear it every day. It has kept accurate time & I adjust the time about every 10 days (off a minute or so). For the price it is an excellent watch and I am very happy with it. The watch is small so it is best for people with small to med. size wrists.

    Chief of the Watch

  • I have owned a least a dozen of these watches. I started using them at boot camp, then stuck with them throughout my career. I used to take 'em on deployments, and bang around the ship with 'em, and take 'em surfing, and take 'em snorkeling, and had no problems. I've probably owned so many because I like the strap. I have an expensive Tag Heuer watch that looks terrific with the strap from this watch. The strap is indestructable--I can count on it. Eventually it does wear out, but I could buy quite a few of the Timex to get the new strap for my Tag, and still cost less than a Tag Heuer strap that doesn't look as good. Get one!

Why did Timex change the case design?!

  • I just reviewed the larger version of this same watch - I've owned both at different times. I wish Timex never changed the case design from the original military design of the 1960s-1980s. There is a lot of history behind this watch, starting with Westclox and Benrus during the Vietnam Era leading to 1982 when Timex rec'd a short-lived military contract. I think the actors in Tour of Duty TV series even wore the Timex version of the classic Vietnam plastic watch. First, this watch should be olive green, not brown. Second, the case design is really ugly with the straight lugs, Only reason I bought it was for the history, but I wish I hadn't. Bring back the classic military case design!

    Deployed Troop's Best Friend

  • I purchased this watch just before my deployment to Afghanistan because of its simplicity and light weight. It has taken a beating here in the desert and it's still ticking strong. I have never had to syncronize the time after I initially did with the US Naval Observatory clock and that was over four months ago. I highly recommend this watch to any soldier, sailor, airman, or marine. You can't get a better watch for under fifty dollars.

    Most reliable

  • I bought this watch at a beach in summer of 2004. Wore it for golf, swimming, overseas travel, camping and hunting. It stopped last week. Buying another one before you raise the price and charge what it is worth.. Battery lasts forever.
