I love this watch! Here's the problem: after about 2 years, I need a new band. Stores who sell the bands don't have this one and no one seems to know where I can get it. Is there a replacement band? I'd love to keep using the watch, but the strap is broken..Battery life, comfortable, Performance, reliable, Rugged, Worn all the timeband is hard to replaceI'd love to give it a higher rating, but loses it's appeal when I can't replace a worn out band/strap. It shouldn't be so difficult to find a strap. It would be helpful if straps were sold on your website AND if the replacement band number was listed somehow on the product information page.

Review:
Unlike another reviewer, my "combat watch" didn't make it through basic training. A watch advertised and engraved with the claim of "water resistant to 100 meters" should be able to withstand a light handwashing. Mine didn't, and the display got all cloudy and unreadable. I love all the useful features of this watch, but what good are they if you can't read the display? How can I risk taking it to combat if it cannot stand up to the rigors of normal, everyday use?
In addition, the rugged appearance did not amount to rugged performance. The Compass bezel quickly wore out; it wouldn't stay in place and became difficult to rotate. Considering all the complaints about the wristband (which I understand is being corrected), it is ironic that all my watch was good for was as a decorative wristband!
Whatever you do, don't take one of these unreliable watches on an "Expedition" where you might really need it to live up to its name.
I'm sending mine in for warranty service. Maybe I just got a bad one. Update to follow..comfortable, Value, Worn all the time, compass, hydration timer, 3 time zones, 3 alarms w/ different chimes, chronograph, timer, military timePerformance, not water resistant, "compass" bezel is flimsyI have had great experience with the Ironman series of watches, but the Expedition Compass watch let me down when I really needed it. I would expect more consistent quality throughout products within a similar price range.

I have, at present, three Timex watches. In all cases, the band wears out WAY before the watch. I have two Expedition watches that I really like; they are feature-rich, durable, easy to understand and use. BUT the watch bands wear out and break and I can't find suitable replacements. The after-market bands that say they are for these watches are unsuitable and don't fit right.
Please, Timex make replacement bands for these good watches; I'm currently wearing one that the band is barely holding together, while two others are just sitting on my dresser taking up space..Rugged, Performance, comfortable, Worn all the time, Battery life, easy to read, reliable, Valueband wears outRecommend the timepieces, can't say the same about bands.

Of special appeal are the clear and easy to read numbers. I have no difficulty reading informatioin in low to no light, with or without glasses. The original leather wristband wore out quickly due to hard wear but the plastic replacement is lasting well. Batteries give long life. I am completely happy with this product.

This is the third timex watch (different models)with a digital compass I've purchased. the first two went back nearly immediately as they were about as accurate as my best guess where north was. this model is slightly better than that but needs to be recalibrated quite often. The band started to come apart after about 1 month and now is almost unuseable. In fact I am writing this review due to the fact that it appears that a new band is not offered for it (how that is possible I have no idea). I would strongly recomend you look elsewhere for a watch of this type. I purchased this model because it's size is much more reasonable than the higher priced compass type watches (which I've also owned) but it now appears it is going in the trash.
I think I'm giving up on a compass on my wrist..Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Value, Worn all the time, sizePerformance, Quality, cant buy a bandcant buy a band to replace the one that wore out after 5 months. unbelievable

I would use the counter to count down 5 minutes when i do my point count surveys for birds. I would use the hydrate counter to remind me to drink water ever so often when i am working out at the gym. It was so handy....until the band broke. The cloth on the leather started fraying not long after i got it but i never minded too much because the watch itself was so useful...but then the band broke. I actually came to TIMEX.COM to see if i could get a replacement band because i searched everywhere else for it. It was while here at TIMEX i realised how many persons are saying the same thing about the band.

Review:
Love the watch, but the band...well, it started falling apart within a month. I trimmed off all the fraying fabric inlay and lived with just leather (or pleather?) for almost 2 years.
Eventually, the band broke at the hole I need to secure it, so I removed it. The band is held in with two screws for each end, it does not use spring posts like 99.99% of the watches in the world, the band is proprietary. Once it fails, you cannot replace the band from the rack at any department or jewelery store. For this reason alone I would NOT recommend buying this watch.
I think that because of the bubble level at 12-o'clock position, they could not use spring posts, so they came up with a unique band design that was attractive, inexpensive, and somewhat thoughtless. The only plus I can think of for this band is that it is much more secure than spring posts. Maybe it they included adaptors to use a standard replacement watchband, but they do not. In my perfect world, I would have tried to design it to accept standard bands by moving the attachment point away 1/4" or so, then replaced the springposts with a single long screw that goes through the watch, through the band, then into the opposite end of the watch.Too expensive for a watch that is useless after the proprietaty band fails. Other brands use standard size watchbands, availible for under $9 everywhere in countless styles and sizes.

Unfortunately, that makes this watch practically worthless after a year or so.
