    Not Made for Men

  • This watch comes with a velcro fastened strap. Now, if you were to strech out the strap (with watch on it of course) next to a ruler it would come out to about 9&1/2 inches. Velcro is generically referred to as fabric "hook and loop" fastener. The "hook" part of the strap is an inch and a half long. It is stiff and must be folded over to fasten onto the "loop" fabric in order to fasten the strap properly. Yet when I do that on my wrist it is a bit too tight. It is definitely too tight when I sleep or when I am physically working (such as shoveling). Why doesn't Timex make the strap a little longer (say, even 2 inches longer), especially considering that the "hook" part of the strap will fasten down nicely all along the fabric "loop" portion of the remaining strap? I know this strap is supposed to be industry-standard as a regular sized men's strap; but I assure you what is touted as the regular size is in fact too small. I mean, I have a regular-sized man's wrist --I don't lift weights or anything. I'd like to see Timex offer these watches with the supposed "extra long" watch bands. I think they'd find that more men were buying them..Battery life, easy to read, reliable, ValueSize & weight, UncomfortableI think Timex products are generally good (based on my experiences) and are a good value. But, they and other watch manufacturers ought to consider the actual physiology of men when designing men's watches. Also, I notice that there doesn't seem to be a "contact" button on your web page to leave feedback. Also, when I do a search for "long band" to find what you offer with extra length bands, I come up with nothing. (The descriptions of your products don't indicate such details as watch band length.)

    More than a camper

  • I've had this Timex Expedition model M4 Camper for a good 5 years or so. It's my 'everyday' watch, from sunup to sunset this companion is like a Volvo. Not an 'eye catcher', but through sweat and wet and mud and crud it lives up to the old Timex motto.... takes a licking and...... One problem: the little straps by the buckle finally gave out and I won't settle for an aftermarket band. The embossed leather and ballistic nylon band, while not 'high fashion', do have a good solid tasteful appearance.

I've found the indiglo feature very useful, and the overall accuracy is good, +/- a few seconds a month. Battery life is superb. I don't recall replacing them in the over 5 years of this timepieces life thus far, but surely, surely I just forgot.

Yessir, after all the scratched I've imparted through years of hard use, I've grown very attached to this piece of essential equipment. For an informal business trip to sporting events to a get-together with friends, and yes, even for camping, this watch will be with me for another 5 years at least. That is, when I get the new band. (<:.Battery life, comfortable, easy to read, Performance, reliable, Rugged, Value, Worn all the time, 'utility' stylingThey do what they say. For years now, they take a licking and keep on ticking! At a fantastic value I will add.

Not the best Expedition Ever Bought

  • This is the third Expedition Series watch that I have purchased. Up until this one I have had great luck with these watches. With this watch I have to reset the time at least once a day as for some reason the watch slows down on its own and doesn't keep the time. That is the only issue I have with this watch though. I whole heartily disagree with the reviewer who claims this watch is not made for men..comfortable, easy to read, Rugged, stylish, Value, Worn all the timeisn't keeping the timeI believe the battery needs to be replaced as it has not kept time since I bought the watch.
