What I chose for my backstage coverage of Tara Subkoff for Imitation of Christ: a look that’s a twist on the traditional blazer-and-slacks combo, and that I really, really (really) like.
Some new favorite pieces here.
First of all, let’s have a conversation about this shoe-and-bag combo, please. They’re both recent J. Crew purchases, and both 100% classic must-haves; there’s nothing like the perfect black leather bag and a pair of navy Mary Janes to spruce up any look in your wardrobe (and as a bonus, both pieces easily go from day to night).
A great blazer is an absolute wardrobe essential, and instantly makes anything from a vintage tee to a silk camisole look pulled-together. But blazers also run the risk of being a little…boring. Not this one: with faux leather sleeves (the back half is fabric so your skin can breathe), a gorgeous jewel-tone color and a drapey cut, it’s one of my new favorite autumn pieces.
I love everything about these Sanctuary trousers – they’re the perfect length, have just the right amount of stretch to them, and manage to look simultaneously relaxed and tailored.
And for accessories, I decided on a mix of silver and gold with a slightly retro vibe courtesy of my vintage Chanel necklace and classic, ladylike Timex Dress Strap.
On me: Timex Dress Strap watch, Ark & Co blazer via Piperlime (available at the SoHo store), Striped Muscle Tank and It Trouser c/o Sanctuary Clothing, vintage Chanel necklace via Rent The Runway, J. Crew Edie purse, J. Crew Mona Patent Mary Janes
