So I have this thing about hostess attire: I’ve always sort of fantasized about being the kind of person who swans around their home in things like floaty, floor-length dresses, shawls, and lots of jewelry...you know, just because.
I’m not sure where I got this idea, although I suspect that a Nora Ephron movie may have been involved at one point.
Anyway, when I was living in our NYC walkup there weren’t a whole lot of opportunities to wear long chiffon dresses for at-home entertaining for two reasons:
1) A thin-yet-inescapable layer of dust that plagued my every waking hour and that did not lend itself to floor-trailing confections, and
2) I haven’t really entertained all that much lately, because once our son – and his associated Jumperoos, bouncy chairs, and toys – arrived, we had exactly no space left for guests to do things like sit. Or stand.

So I was pretty excited to try my hand at entertaining in a space that actually lends itself to lengthy, chilled-out summertime dinners, and so for last Saturday’s BBQ I decided on a dress that’s been hanging around my closet for some time now, but that I haven’t yet had the opportunity to wear.

For accessories, I continued the boho vibe with mixed metals and stacked bangles.

And two Timex watches, just because I couldn’t decide whether to toughen up the dress with some braided leather, or to go full-on glam with gold mesh.
Watch stacking?
Why not?
